This is your second Bridge blog assignment. Usually, two of you you will be responsible for coming up with the blog questions. However, since we are still new to this experience, I will provide today's question.
This blog assignment is centered on First Impressions. As humans, we have a lot of experiences that we rely on to navigate the world; we draw conclusions, make judgments and use biases when we encounter new people, ideas, and situations, often before we have even had time to consider them more fully. This is only natural. Imagine if every time you came to a stop light, you did not use your past experiences with stop lights to navigate the intersection.
Today, let's embrace those impressions. I want you to describe your first impressions of either Persepolis or True Notebooks in two ways.
You must:
- First, I would like you to consider your impressions of the characters in the book. Choose a part of the book that you had the strongest reaction to (good or bad). What do you think about that character? What did the character do that made you view them this way?
Remember to use specific examples from the text.
- Then I would like for you to consider: Why did you choose the book you chose?
As you will continue to encounter in English classes, there are no wrong answers here, but you must explain it. What were the past experiences that led you to this book over the other one?
- Finally, notice any connections (or lack of connections) you see between your two answers.
-Create your own blog post in which you write a 300 word response that attempts to describe your first impressions of the book on these levels (First addressing a specific instance in the book, then your reasoning for choosing the book, and then connecting these two answers).
-You should title your blog with something more appropriate and creative than "First Impression".
Have Fun!
