In truenotbooks the boys face a lot of negativity from one another, they talk a whole bunch of smack and it can lead to fighting or getting in trouble like Nathaniel did. Mark was volunteered by sister Janet to play his cello for the prisoners. He thought that the prisoners would have a negative reaction but he was so wrong. Their reaction was positive and he moved them with "The Swan" by Camille Saint-Saens. I can't think of a time where I had to deal with identity changes or have been looked down on. If I have its been forgotten or I paid little to no attention to it, I try to convince myself that there is no negativity and everything is positive. That works for me.

I think the boys have been through that coming from gangs, being told you have to kill or rob or you'll be dealt with type of thing. They are in Juvenile Hall so obviously they did the crime or were with someone who did. I think now being locked up and having time to think and not having everything moving so fast they can deal with these things better. My beliefs and better judgement may have crossed paths at one point but I was always told to do what made me happy and that would be doing what i believed but judgement would work with my beliefs so If its something to do with whats right and then I would believe my judgements were right and it would work out. I think that makes sense hmmm...
