In the book Percepolis, the main character Marjane comes to a point in her teenage years where she starts to identify herself with the punk scene at the time. There is a scene in the book where she's walking home from getting some tapes, and some older Iranian women stop her and point out the clothing she's wearing (jean jacket, tight black paints, Michael Jackson pin, Nike shoes) and tell her that what she is wearing is punk, and acting as if she's commiting a crime.
Have the any of the characters in your book experienced this kind of negativity towards the way you look or what you are intrested in ? Has there ever been a point in your life when you were going through certain identity changes in an area where it wasn't necessarily acceptable If so what kind of changes, and in what ways were you looked down upon?
