The part of the book that gave me the biggest impression so far would have to be when the prisoner Ruban reads his journal about clouds. I like this part of the book the most mainly because he made such a good connection between his own personal life before he was imprisoned and the cell that he now resides in. I also have a good connection to the way he felt about these clouds although my life was probably alot different i too used to just hang out with my freinds and not care about anything but having fun, but along the way i passed up alot of the beuty in life. I think this is what he was trying to portray in his paper and he did an extremely good job of making it an effective, persuasive journal entry. I also believe this charicter is going to be very important because even though he is stuck in the position hes in he still manages to be a very intellectuall person.
I think i chose to read this book over the other one because of my past experiences with my freinds. Like most of the people i know these charicters have done things they will always regret and even though i have never been sent to juvy or jail i have felt like i have been held back by my past choices. Also i chose this book because i feel it relates alot to this class were taking now, although the kids here arent close to as bad as some of the people in juvy who commit murder, there are kids in this class like myself who made horrible choices in their past but are trying their hardest to overcome their past. Just like the prisoners at juvy the made a bad choice that made them end up their but by them taking this writing class they are clearly trying to better themselves as much as they possibly can before they get out so when they do theyll have something to fall back on, instead of going back to their old lives.
