Charlie

I am Charlie Bressler. I am more than just my name, however. I am a creative, logical thinking, generally open minded person. That is why I wanted to go to Columbia College in the first place. Since seventh grade I have had an interest in film making/directing and even before that I held a record at the Blockbuster near my house for most movies checked out, set at over four hundered. I have always loved movies and I dream of one day being a director in Hollywood. My influences have a wide vary because I like a lot of different styles of film making. If you asked me what my style was, I'd have to say that I am a brooksian-speilbergian-terrentinoian-scorceseish-lucas like director. But, on the other hand, I don't like to say that because I am an individual, similar to others, but unique in my own way. I'm not out there to be the next somebody, I want to be me and famous for it. As a director i feel it necesary to have a knowladge in all other aspects of film and film making besides my own. My reason for this is that, through my studies and readings, I have found that a truely good director can communicate evenly with each membe of his or her staff in their "laguage" or way that they will understand so as to achieve the best product. I went about acheiveing this goal in several ways. I was in a summer theater program for three years, I have taken several writing classes in highschool, and I am continously reading both scripts and books written by directors and writers and such who have made it in the industry. I make movies not for myself. I make them to entertain you, the viewer, but at the same time, I'd like you to leave my movies haveing learned something. If that is acomplished then I, in turn, will feel acomplished. Outside of my career aspirations, I will share a quick tidbit about me as a person. I am a loving caring person. I am christian, but I do not slam my faith in people's faces. If you ask, I will try to answer. I am a martial artist. I love photography. Thats me... If you need to know more, feel free to ask.
