juavonnie :
The person who inspires the kids in True Notebooks the most right now is Mark. He is the teacher of their creative writing class, and one of the more significant adults in the book because he is pushing them to write about themselves. An example of this is when Francisco reads a letter to the class he wrote for his mother. At first he was hesitant, but the class persuaded him to read it and after they all thought it was good and they could all relate to feeling like burdens to their mothers. It was vital for Fransisco to hear this, because it made him feel like what he couldn't do before, he was now capable of. If it weren't for Mark, he would have never acompolished this.
People that inspire me the most are my family and friends. They are my rock, they support me and love me and I support and love them, and can go to them when I need advice or that extra push.
My Question :
I think the boys in True Notebooks have been deeply effected by their pasts and loss or suffering that they have gone through. For one, it tends to be something they all have in common, because each of them ended up in Juvenile Hall for something negative that they did or where a part of. I think that their experiences have changed them for both better and worse. On one hand, the fact that many of them are in there for murder must have been hard on them, they will always have to live knowing that they are responsible for someone else's death. At the same time they are changing their lives around and trying to become better people, so they are learning from their mistakes, however heavy they may be.
Bad things in my past have definately effected me. I kind of think of it as just learning something the hard way. Instead of making the right choice and not making the mistake in the first place, I went ahead and did something stupid anyway. But the outcome of that was I realized exactly how what I did was wrong, it makes you really think about whatever it was that you did and you figure out why it wasn't worth it, why you won't do it again, and what you can do now to change it.
