Day 6 Salt 2nd blog of the day

Day 6 Adam’s question
In Persepolis my character Marjane has just been sent to Austria to get a better education.( page 156) She arrives in Vienna and is picked up by her aunt Zo-Zo and her daughter Shirin. This experience was mixed when it comes to making Marjane feel comfortable in there house. Shirin her daughter quickly tried to make Marjane feel at home by complimenting her, hugging her at the airport, offering her lipstick and even sharing her room with Marjane. Marjane didn’t quite take a liking to it. On the other hand you have her aunt who has a husband that she can’t seem to get along with. The two couldn’t have been trying to make Marjane comfortable when the two constantly argued loudly. In addition to this Marjane had to leave their house because her aunt and mother decided it was to small in the house. They found Marjane a boarding house to live in.
The place was ran by French nuns. The nuns really didn’t care if she was comfortable or not. However her roommate Lucia was nice and tried to befriend Marjane. The two shared food with each other when she first got there but for the most part she was nice to Marjane. Marjane had a huge problem with Lucia’s hair drying in the mornings. In the end Lucia was a great friend she invited Marjane to come on vacation with her and her family for Christmas break.
In life I’ve tried so hard to make others around me comfortable. When I was younger my aunt came to live with my family. I gave my room up I cooked for her and walked her to the bus stop to make sure she was safe when going to work. This however wasn’t enough. She left our home in two weeks complaining she hated red curtains in bathrooms because it meant the devil was washing you up. This took us over the top as we could do nothing but laugh and help her out. To this day she doesn’t come to my house.
