C.J. asks...

Genocide is defined as the act of one race trying to kill off another. When applied, it is the most horrible thing imaginable because it seems to be an excuse to to all of the things to that race that you wouldn't do to people you viewed as humans, or worthy of equal treatment. A lot of people will go along with it because their government advocates and even encourages these acts. others protest and fight as long as they can.

what are some of the reasons genocide is allowed in today's world?

if our government decided it was ok to commit genocide on a particular race and soaked the media with propaganda supporting it, would you go along with it? how would you protest it if you didn't?

Day 11maddy by Salt

Day 11 by salt
Genocide is a tough and sensitive topic for me to digest because I understand that most of these genocides take place in Africa where I’m from, where my ancestors were thought of. It just makes me feel bad and lucky because I could’ve been easily born there in a weird way. To me I just don’t understand the beating of a dead horse. I mean these people are fighting against people who can not fight back under any circumstance. Like I hate to sound cliché but pick on someone your own size. It’s just tough to see pictures of that and to know that people have the power to stop that horrible power but just wont due to basic selfishness. I feel helpless because I can’t help them.
Overcoming genocide is so easy to me. These big armies in the world have so much technology and resources to just blow these guys up and take control but they will not because oil is more important to protect than precious human beings. Hating being a pessimistic person I don’t see the situation ever being resolved because people don’t even care about the people dying in their neighborhoods let alone some people over in another country. Also I think it will not ever be resolved because the media makes it seem so cartoonish. Like the average viewer looks at it like that’s crazy because the stories seem unbelievable. Then I believe that peoples sub conscience when the media don’t make a big deal about something is telling us it’s not a big deal so we don’t care. It’s like if it’s so bad it should be blitzed on the news everyday but again the oil is the most important thing to worry about.

Sad and Funny

Maddy kind of seeing the art work bring a whole new world to my eyes I use to be blind to this whole thing I guess you can say that I’m living in my own world and now this his open up my eyes to what the world is really like it not all peaches and cream. So I would say that the art work open my eyes to the horrible things that are still happening and I also think we will not overcome genocide soon because as I said before the world is so self center so you will always have those people in the world that wants the big part of life and they feel that the world should be ran a different way. Also the people that are in those hiring positions also have a mess up perception of life so the part of the world that they own they will run it the way they want it to be ran. Sometimes it’s also they do thing to get what they. They feel like they have to make a point and keep the people that they in charge of in fear so they will never have the power to rise up and get the spot to change the bad things that is happen right now.
Tonas this story is going to be funny now when I was little my mom would always buy these fruit snack and I would always want one so I would ask for one because we have to ask if we could have something. So one day I ask if I could have a fruit role up and my mom said no, I wanted one soooo bad so late that night I went in the kitchen and stole 3 of them and eat them all while everyone was sleep I was eating all the fruit snack. So the next day my brother ask for one and my said we all could have one so when my mom went to the box she seen that the box was open. So I knew right then and there that I was going to get in trouble. So my mom ask me who was stealing and my dad came in and watch the whole thing I said I didn’t and lie like 7 time about it than all of a sudden my dad told on my ass he went to my bed went under it all pull out all the fruit roll up paper . Then I said to myself I should have flushed the paper down the toil. So I get caught got a whipping. I could not have any of the fruit snacks in the house at that time. But I didn’t care. And every time snacks came in the house and I ask for

Never Again - a response to maddy's post

The sight of all of this suffering has affected me deeply. Deeply enough to come up with my on poem as you can see from my earlier post Heart Beat. this whole topic keeps bitting home because i think of how it hit my family directly. i think the reason for the unwillingness to cease has been ultimatly a struggle for power. the people commiting these genocides have something that the world powers want and if they are usurped, the world powers may not be able to have access to those things. in addition i think that there are many ignorant people in this world who will not let go of their prejudice and intolerance. these people will just not let go or let up and they have a position where they are not touched...i am not sure. i have many theories as to these reasons but i have been accused that they border on the paranoid so i will keep them to myself.

help us help them

Tonas: yes the character’s in my books do things all the time and they have to hide in order to not get into trouble, like for instance having partys and drinking alcohol is banned at this time in iran and marjane and her family goes to the party’s and drink anyway to me this is saying that they don’t care about there lives because as well they could be arrested or even killed just for doing something so simple as to partying and drinking. I have done this before where I have had made a poor decision on my part and it was looked down apon and it was a negative response it was a time when I was with my boyfriend and we where with frienda and we decided to damage a piece of property and we all knew it was wrong and so it was a negative thing and I felt like I could have a better choice as well as marjane she went to a party and the government heard the party and the cops busted the party and one of her friends died from jumping off a roof and didn’t make it that’s why I say that it could cost her her life and that would have been worse but it was also like me where it could have costed me going to jail and having no fine at all. So yes me and marjane have made bad choces in my opionon .
Maddy: I feel that its hard to over come genocide because people normally don’t want to talk about it, I think they feel that its not that serious but once they finally find out what it is and they put themselves in the victimes shoes they see how it effects people… right now I have a passion to help stop this because this could be any one of us in the situation of the victimes and I feel as the people of america we are going over seas to fight I think that we should go over sea’s to help rebuild the people who arein this perdicument now and need the help of other’s . and I just cant help but to think that this really could be me or someone else in my famliy and its not just family it could just be someone I know. And the art work of the cradles really touched me bcause people have baby’s all the time and I thnk that the cradle project touched a lot of people because of the stories behind them!

How i feel about genocide/What got me in trouble

My feelings toward genocide is that it shouldn’t be . So in seeing someone trying to work hard to make a difference to stop it that intrigues me. Stoping killing , malnutrition and hurt of others is something that I am passionate about doing so the I can say the project had an positive effect on me because it opens my eyes up to the things that is going on in the world that need to be stoped . Also it makes me realize the blessing I do have in life . And the things we take for granted the most. So if donating to this helps get one step closer to world peace and the helping of others then I have no problem doing it. Genocide brings death , pain and suffering to people I think that it is so hard to stop because people don’t want to just get along they rather kill then to help. And if you got a lot of people that either neglect or don’t know whats going on then that’s when it is hard to stop. I would never say that it is not possible to stop genocide, because it is possible and it can be done if we all work together. I know that Marjane does things that she repeatedly get in trouble for and that is her smart coments to grown up or people with authority over her. It was a negative thing on her part because she got thrown out of school in Austria and she got thrown out of her house so she really didn’t benefit from saying what she said. I remember I got in trouble because when I get mad I tend to not talk to people and my mom didn’t like it . the funny thing is she the one that made me mad . She tried to put on punishment for two months until my grandma found out in told her she was in the worng and to not put on punishment for something that she should have did . I think It was I don’t know situation cause to me it wasn’t positive or negative it was just like ok because I wasn’t going to be on punishment for something I didn’t do no way . And yeah I would not talk to her again if she make me mad because that is just me and I cannot change that
